Williams-Murray Wins Silver Medal at New York Open PDF Print E-mail

NY Open logo Two-time New York Open Champion Taraje Williams-Murray (Wakefield, Mass. / NYAC / USA Judo National Team FORCE) had the best result for a U.S. player on Sunday, winning a silver medal in the 60kg division at the New York Open in New York City.
After a first-round bye, Williams-Murray threw Zaur Jalilzade (New Hope, Minn. / Midway Judo Club) for ippon and defeated Jeff Fujimoto (Los Angeles, Calif. / Sawtelle Judo) on points to advance to the final where he lost a controversial match to three-time New York Open medalist Marek Krecielewski (POL).

The following athletes also reached the podium, winning bronze medals:
